There can sometimes be a disconnect between the idealistic view of medicine and the actual reality of both medical school and the day-to-day activities of a physician. Through mentorship, our goal is to TEACH our mentees more about the journey to and through medicine, pitfalls to avoid, and provide advice and encouragement along this road less traveled. While you will be led to believe that perfection is a requirement for medical school admittance, it is not. Being human is the requirement. Being focused is the requirement. Being steadfast is the requirement. We’re excited to share our journey while helping you along your own. #teach

#TrailblazHER is our virtual platform designed to help INSPIRE women of color to pursue careers in medicine and to uplift black women physicians breaking barriers in healthcare. In a society where women are oftentimes not recognized and praised for their hard work and accomplishments, our goal is to highlight those excelling in spite of, and to let others know that you can beat the odds! Yes, you can be a doctor, too! #inspire

Statistics have shown that women who have consistent role models are more likely to be successful. To MENTOR is to be willing to share one’s experiences with hope that it provides another with information that can be used for the betterment of self. Through mentorship, we aim to connect doctors of color with black women pursuing careers as physicians. Our goal is to provide an atmosphere of loving guidance from other black female physicians for those women who desire help along their journey to and through medicine. Additionally, we aim to increase the unacceptably low percentage of black women physicians practicing in the United States, which currently stands at a mere 2.6%#mentor

E.

Through virtual seminars, discussions and quarterly gatherings, our organization desires to ENCOURAGE one another as we continue this journey to and through medicine. We recognize that it is a road less traveled and can be difficult, but we hope to continue being a safe space for each other! #encourage

EMT: Executive Management Team

In early 2023, TIME4Her formed our Executive Management Team, fittingly referred to as our EMT, to revive, revise, and reorganize our program structure and function. Our EMT consists of several current mentors who are dedicated to TIME4Her’s mission. Since its inception, we have better streamlined both the mentorship program and our organization goals. We are excited to continue forming connections within the surrounding community and look forward to evolving in ways that best serve our mentees, mentors, and volunteers.
