Who We Are
T.I.M.E.4Her is a corporation formed to teach, inspire, mentor, and encourage women concerning health and wellness related issues that most heavily affect women of color. Through social media, dialogue, group activities, seminars, and community outreach, T.I.M.E.4Her aims to enlighten others regarding the disparities present within healthcare, and ways in which those inequities can be improved.
Healthcare professionals are challenged to provide thorough patient education in the midst of timed and, oftentimes, brief office visits. TIME4Her organizes health and wellness seminars and provides health education via social media on various topics that allow discussions and teaching for many of your questions that may go unanswered.
Through social media, our goal is to shine a light on women of color working hard to serve others within the healthcare sector. By sharing the stories of these amazing black female physicians, we want to show other young women that they can be physicians too.
According to the Association of American Medical Colleges, there are over 90,000 medical students in the United States. ONLY 7% are black. Additionally, only 2.6% of physicians in the United States are black women. Our goal is to help increase those numbers through DoctHER Loading, a formal mentorship program here in eastern Virginia.
The promotion of optimistic thoughts has been associated with decreased depressive symptoms and improved physical health. Our annual women’s health and wellness symposium and social media posts aim to do that and more through promoting practical ways to manage stress, positive affirmations, nutrition education, and other activities designed to encourage improved well-being, self-confidence and self-awareness.
