Who We Are

T.I.M.E.4Her is a corporation formed to teach, inspire, mentor, and encourage women concerning health and wellness related issues that most heavily affect women of color. Through social media, dialogue, group activities, seminars, and community outreach, T.I.M.E.4Her aims to enlighten others regarding the disparities present within healthcare, and ways in which those inequities can be improved.

While focused on overall health and wellness, the organization aims to TEACH women about various healthcare related topics with a focus on those most heavily affecting women of color. Our in-person and virtual seminars and weekly #WellnessWednesdays social media posts may focus on contraception to disease prevention; mental health awareness to mindfulness through yoga instruction; or cooking classes to promote nutritious eating habits to name a few. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that those electing to join us are provided with useful information to improve her personal health and wellness journey.

#TuesdaysTreasureHER is our social media campaign designed to help INSPIRE women of color to pursue careers in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, or postdoctoral scientific research through exposure to the actions of the shining stars who walk among us. In a society where women are oftentimes not recognized and praised for their hard work and accomplishments, our goal is to highlight those excelling in spite of, and to let all of our readers and followers know that you can be a doctor, too! Additionally, our formal mentoring program Dr. InspireHer was formed with a desire to help increase diversity in the aforementioned careers.

Statistics have shown that women who have consistent role models are more likely to be successful. To MENTOR is to be willing to share one’s experiences with hope that it provides another with information that can be used for the betterment of self. Through our formal mentoring program Dr. InspireHer, we aim to connect doctors of color with underrepresented undergraduates who are interested in careers in healthcare and reside in the Hampton Roads area (Norfolk State University, Hampton University, and Old Dominion University). Our goal is to provide an atmosphere of loving guidance from local female doctors (physicians, dentists, pharmacists, and scientists) to those women who desire help along their journey to and through medicine. Additionally, we aim to increase the unacceptably low percentage of black women physicians practicing in the United States, which currently stands at a mere 2.6%.

E.

Through roundtable discussions, volunteerism, and social media posts, our organization desires to ENCOURAGE women to live their healthiest and happiest lives. #MotivationMondays and   #SelfcareSaturdays are our social media campaigns designed to promote positivity and improved self-awareness among all readers. Additionally, our annual women’s health symposium allows the opportunity for women from various backgrounds to share wisdom, enrich, and uplift others through their own personal life experiences while simultaneously learning more about their own health and wellness journey.
